The time we ordered burger kits from 3 different restaurants.

Turns out we like to go out to eat, a lot. Once lockdown took hold we took full advantage of the many DIY food kits London restaurants were offering to create the ‘dinning out experience’ we missed.

In order to appeal to all the dinners in our home, we decided the burger kit was the right choice for us. Over a few weeks we ordered three different kits, their reviews are below.

First up was Patty & Bun.

They deliver Nationwide and offer vegan boxes. We opted for the meat kit box that is priced at £25.

The box contains:

  • 2x Ari Gold and 2x Smokey Robinson beef patties

  • Smokey P&B Mayo

  • Cheese Slices

  • Home Made Pickled and Smokey Onions

  • 4x Buns and Instructions

We chose to grill our burgers. I loved the caramelized onions, while the hubs was into the pickled onions and we all loved their smokey P&B mayo.

The kit was packaged well and we really enjoyed having a restaurant style burger at home.

We rated Patty & Bun a 3 out of 4

Next up was Nanny Bill’s. Nanny Bill’s has a loyal following and it was easy to see why. They have 5 signature burgers and 3 buttermilk chicken sandwiches.

The ordering process for Nanny Bill’s is far more personal, you submit a form and payment then wait for a text message letting you know when your box will arrive.

We ordered the Dalston Dip kit, which retails for £25. The kit comes with everything you need for 4 Dalston Dips:

  • 800g of Nanny Bill's Beef Mince

  • Nanny Bill's Burger Salt

  • 12 Slices of American Cheese

  • Mustard glaze

  • Caramelized onions

  • Gherkin relish

  • Burger sauce

  • Pot of gravy

  • 4 Seeded Buns

We added their mac & cheese and brisket croquettes to our order and they did not disappoint.

This kit was amazballs. The meat was top quality and the burger salt took it over the edge. Everyone loved this burger.

We rated Nanny Bill’s 5 out of 5

The last burger kit we ordered was from Dirty Bones. Dirty Bones offers limited delivery and sells a limited number of kits each week. We opted for the Return of the Mac kit for £25.

  • 8x Burger patties

  • 4x cooked macaroni

  • 4x American cheese slices

  • 1x  mac and cheese sauce

  • 4x pulled beef short rib marinated in espresso spiked bbq sauce

  • 4x seeded brioche buns

This burger was like a shoulder shrug, kind of blah. We didn’t care for the mac and cheese and the pulled short rib was really fatty. I wished there was some extra bbq sauce to use but there wasn’t.

I’m betting this burger is better at the restaurant, but as a home kit it fell flat.

we gave it a 2 out of 5

In the end, the DIY kits were a hit with the family and allowed us to have something to look forward to as a special meal.

Wish you were here,

xoxo
