The time we ordered a pizza kit.

In my house, each day of lockdown blurs into the next. I struggle to create and keep a routine. Most days I wake up and say “here we go again” but not on the weekend. We have pizza on Friday, play a board or card game - currently we are loving Spoons, and then watch something funny. Saturday we have a movie night complete with popcorn, Sunday brings a lot of time in the garden and a lovely dinner. To be honest, its the same weekend routine we had before lockdown, all that’s missing is a trip to a museum, landmark, or cinema. However, just a few weeks into lockdown and our weekends became too much of a routine and I struggled with keeping it fresh. Lucky for us many of London’s famed establishments started to promote their ‘kits’ and this past Friday we enjoyed Pizza Pilgrims’ Frying Pan Pizza kit.

Pizza Pilgrims’ kit comes with enough dough for two frying pan Neapolitan pizzas.

  • 2 x Pizza Pilgrims Neapolitan 48 hour proved dough balls

  • Marinara sauce for 2 pizzas

  • Fresh Fior Di Latte for 2 pizzas

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Fresh Basil

  •  Parmesan

We each tried to master the flying pizza spin but only the hubs managed to get it right. In the end no one dropped their dough so I’m calling that a win.

We put a little oil in our skillet, then dressed the pizzas as desired: sauce, cheese, basil and a drizzle of oil. We popped them in the oven and a short time later orders were up!

Since the kits come packaged in carry out boxes we thought it would be fun to serve the kids their pizzas in the box. They loved it. The whole thing, from start to finish, was fun. Bonus, the kids loved the pizza.

At £15 a box, we are looking forward to doing this again and they ship nationwide.

Wish you were here,

xoxo
