The time we had the best day ever.

As strange as it sounds, we struggle to find things to do that get the kids excited. We’ve been to museums, cinemas, markets, and more. We try to avoid tourist hot spots because of the kids get annoyed with the crowds, and the kids are not huge fans of just walking around. One warm summer day the hubs and I decided to do something completely random and over the top. We decided to do an ice cream shop crawl. We planned to hit four shops in the Covent Garden area and order one item to share amongst the 4 of us. When we told the kids what we were doing, they were so excited.

Each time we entered a shop we would ask the person working the counter what they would suggest. They assumed our American accent meant we were tourists and we decided for the day we would play the part to the fullest. We would chat with them a little about what other ice cream shops we should go to and places to go on our ‘vacation.’

From their website - We have designed a delicious and completely unique range of baked, chilled and frozen ‘whipped’ cheesecakes.

Whipped cheese cake? Sign us up! We ordered the red velvet whipped cheesecake Sunday.

It was a messy, sweet, tasty indulgence.

The kids gave it 2 scoops out of 4

The grown-up gave it 2.5 scoops out of 4

We shared a strawberry sorbet with a macroon center. It was a pretty dessert. The marcoon was gooey and the sorbet was sweetly tart.

The kids gave it 2 scoops out of 4

The adults gave it 3 scoops out of 4

Our last stop was the Instagram hot spot Milk Train

12 Tavistock St.

From their website - Next level ice cream and more. Live your ice cream dreams.

We got a vanilla base soft serve ice cream topped with rainbow sprinkles, a biscuit twirl, resting on a bed of fairy floss.

It was a messy, sugary, photogenic treat.

The kids gave it 4 scoops out of 4

The adults gave it 1.5 scoops out of 4

When all was said and done and with full bellies we decided Whipped was great for something different and decadent. Amorino was a solid stop that has a large variety so something for everyone. The only problem with Venchi was we didn’t get a bigger cup! And lastly, Milk Train it great for the ‘gram and to share but crazy messy and a bit indulgent.

When we got home the kids confessed it was the best day ever. “Next up, doughnuts?” my son asked and we all laughed. Maybe.

Wish you were here,

xoxo
